Cellist Peter Bruns has established a distinguished performing career with his committed music-making and creative programming. His previous recording of rare (and recently reconstructed) works for Cello and Piano by Charles Koechlin received wide critical acclaim. In his new recording for hänssler CLASSIC, Bruns continues his exploration of the Gallic cello in a recital of music from two of the great masters of the French organ - Widor and Vierne. Both composers stand as pillars in a musical tradition that traced it roots back to Franck and continued well into the 20th century through the music of Dupre and Messiaen. The chamber works on this disc show the richness of each composer's imagination and yet point out the extreme contrasts between these two generations of French virtuoso organists.01 Suite in E Minor / e-Moll op. 21 Méditation
